Leclair : Elite De Bons Mots

Description

Listening to the violin music of J.M. Leclair (1697-1764) is to hear a miracle, that of the emergence of a French school for this instrument, considered loud and somewhat vulgar in the 17th century. As much as his sonatas are the stunning crowning of a form established by so many composers who preceded him, his violin concertos seem to be, with the exception of an opus by Jacques Aubert (1689-1753), the result of his own initiative.
Eager to defend the instrumental repertoire above all, The Beggar's ensemble has several creation/research projects planned for the coming years, such as a recording project aimed at affirming the existence of an English school of violin through the works of composers native to Great Britain in the 18th century; or the exploration of the French repertoire with a recording dedicated to the concertos of Jean-Marie Leclair.
It is in the constant questioning of musical modes of expression that the ensemble finds its specificity. Combining a strong taste for artistic risk-taking and a unique "sound," thanks to a rich work of instrumentation/ornamentation, the ensemble is known for never leaving its audience indifferent.
The Beggar’s Ensemble benefits from a workspace and support in cultural engineering from Ars Nova instrumental ensemble, with the support of the City of Poitiers.
