Around the world, Atahualpa Yupanqui has been welcomed as one of the greatest poets and singers from Argentina of the 20th century. A true emblem of South American music, Atahualpa traveled across his country, crossing the pampas and sleeping among the humblest. He experienced their poverty and selflessness, which he later sang about with dignity and modesty. Exiled in France since 1949, he gained recognition from poets (Aragon, Eluard) and took the stage to open for Edith Piaf at the Théâtre de l'Athénée. In solidarity with the nameless from all countries, he nonetheless follows his own path, armed with "his greatest weapon: freedom." His pen and guitar - simplicity in service of the essential - travel the world with him, still singing of humanity in its irreducibility. Poet, musician, a monument of South American culture, Atahualpa Yupanqui presents here the recording of one of his historic concerts in 1982.
