The jazz sextet Asynchrone revisits the repertoire of legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto! Asynchrone is a thrilling new collective of jazz instrumentalists from the Parisian free jazz and electro scenes. Initiated in 2020 by producers Frédéric Soulard (Limousine, Jeanne Added) and Clément Petit (Roseaux, Blick Bassy, Piers Faccini), the sextet presents Plastic Bamboo, an album dedicated to reinterpreting a selection of tracks by Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, a member of the legendary trio Yellow Magic Orchestra. Asynchrone approaches the music with a spirit of rebellious freedom and childlike joy, curious and ready to convey the essence of all the influences that make up a repertoire of dizzying richness and a crossroads of genres (ambient, pop, jazz, krautrock, or exotica). The group moves from the most popular tracks (Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Behind The Mask) to more experimental works (Riot In Lagos, Neue Tanz, Differancia, Ubi). Frédéric Soulard's synthesizers are joined here by Clément Petit's cello, Delphine Joussein's flute, Hughes Mayot's saxophone, Manuel Peskine's piano, and Vincent Taeger's drums. More than a tribute to a static work, it is a testament to creative freedom.
