Trojka Nomad

Description

The first EP by Trojka Nomad is a journey through Balkan traditional music, reimagined with contemporary sensibilities and personal arrangements. Centered around polyphonic singing, the project is driven by the warm textures of classical guitar, double bass, cajon, and Peruvian bombo, creating a sound universe that is both rooted and mixed. The repertoire includes six songs: "Izgrela mi" from Bulgaria, "U lisi" from Ukraine, "Gusta mi magla" from Kosovo, "Ederlezi" in Romani, "zanem zanem," a rearranged and rewritten piece with Eastern sounds... and one exception, "Kappee" from Finland. Each arrangement reflects the diverse musical backgrounds of the three musicians. A blend of traditional harmonies and influences ranging from jazz to various folklores of our vast world. Rather than a faithful reproduction of Balkan folklore, the trio reclaims these songs with an intimate and vibrant expression. The result is a powerful debut album that transcends borders while honoring the spirit of oral tradition.
