Traumanaut

Description

The leader of Goblin Cock, Lord Phallus, is a ghostly figure clad in a cape within a band made up of equally vague, deliberately nebulous characters; but while their many imitators use this as an excuse to build out a commercially exploitable mythology, the members of Goblin Cock genuinely want to be ignored. Traumanaut is the project’s latest album and sounds like an unexpected breath of fresh air, especially coming from such a neurotic swamp of a guy. At times, the sound is so personal that any normal songwriter would do everything possible to distance themselves from so much honesty. Traumanaut is the fifth full-length album and the first record in over seven years from Goblin Cock, the much-loved cult metal project of Rob Crow (Pinback, Heavy Vegetable). This new album picks up where “Roses On The Piano” (2019) left off: melodic and crushing, with saturated riffs, stoner doom grooves, and a sense of humor that never detracts from the music’s power.
