Towards Happiness

Description

A narrative and cathartic album, Stared at from a Distance (Talitres, 2023) summoned ghosts. Much more than just a collection of songs, Feldup unveiled eleven compositions where pain and urgency coexisted with sonic explosions and inner anthems. An exercise in transgressing trauma, intimate yet universally accessible. While a large part of his audience first discovered him through his YouTube channel (which now has 1.9 million subscribers), Feldup has since fully embraced his musical work. The French tour in quintet (2024-2025), with his band The Showerheads, confirmed this on stage with sold-out shows. From Toulouse (Le Bikini) to Besançon (Festival Détonation), from Montreux (Montreux Jazz Festival) to Tourcoing (Le Grand Mix), passing through Paris (Le Trabendo) and Lyon (La Rayonne), and many other venues, each night a young and supportive audience, aware and grounded in reality, attends the concerts. Félix Dupuis began writing Towards Happiness in 2023. This album marks a new stage in Feldup's creative process: it is the first record to be recorded in a studio (The Apiary Studio, Amaury Sauvé in Laval), and it is also the first time he is accompanied by his musicians (The Showerheads). STARED AT FROM A DISTANCE "Child of rock," titled Libération in October 2020 upon the release of Feldup's twilight album "A Thousand Doors, Just One Key." Behind this pseudonym was Félix Dupuis. He was just 18 years old and spent most of his time feeding his YouTube channel (which then had 120,000 subscribers and now gathers over 1.5 million people). A band formed, and a few concerts were held, bringing together a fervent audience who saw in Feldup a direct extension of their daily lives and feelings. His new album, Stared at from a Distance (release on November 10, 2026), is much more than just a collection of songs. Entirely conceived by Feldup, it is a catharsis of rare density (with the crushing climax of 'Death of an Illusion'), born from the need to put his terrible emotional distress on paper, and the deep trauma he has experienced in recent years. "Writing has always been necessary for me; it allowed me to divert my thoughts and make sense of the awful things happening to me." The album takes shape in pain. It oscillates for a time between ambient tracks and noise compositions before settling into a rock register. "Songs started to take shape suddenly when I stopped forcing myself to write about something else or to sugarcoat my experience." Originally from Franche-Comté, now living near Paris to study sound, he has been claiming the canvas since a young age. The vast network became a tool for him to acquire skills, practice new abilities, and combine pedagogy with recreation. Through digital interconnections, he created a YouTube channel where he developed a universe of 'alternate reality game' (ARG), a concept considered a narrative immersion using the real world as a support for creating a fictional scenario.
