The Grand Finale

Description

The pioneering Belgian heavy metal band Killer was initially formed in 1980 by guitarist and singer Paul "Shorty" Van Camp and drummer "Fat" Leo (who unfortunately passed away on February 13, 2026). Before that, both were active in a rock/blues outfit called Mothers Of Track. The classic lineup of Killer was completed by guitarist Ivo "Spooky" Van Doren. Heavily influenced by the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and Motörhead, the trio quickly built a reputation for their loud and aggressive heavy/speed metal and, along with Acid and Crossfire, became one of the most successful bands in Belgium. Signing a contract with Mausoleum Records, Killer released a series of classic albums in the early '80s – "Ready For Hell" (1980), "Wall Of Sound" (1982), and "Shock Waves" (1984) – before splitting up for the first time in 1987. A few reunions and five more albums followed, the latest being "Hellfire" with HNE in 2023. And now, it's time for "The Grand Finale" – the very last studio album from Killer, soon to be released by High Roller Records. Composed of Paul "Shorty" Van Camp (guitars/vocals), Ian Anthony (bass), and Vanne (drums), Killer has lost none of its impact. According to "Shorty" Van Camp, the album "is a dedication to Lemmy from Motörhead, one of our all-time heroes." "The Grand Finale is a typical Killer album," continues the guitarist and singer. "Real old school metal that references our era. The songs are very catchy, with strong choruses that everyone can sing along to after just a few listens. Simple but honest. And of course, explosive guitar solos that are my specialty. This time, I wrote all the music and lyrics myself." "One of my personal favorites from the album is 'Welcome To The Real World,' which is a really typical and catchy Killer song," Shorty adds. "I think the fast songs, in the style of Motörhead, will be very appreciated by the fans." One of these Motörhead-influenced songs is "Roll The Dice," featuring Shorty singing a duet with Lloyd "Lemmy," the singer of a tribute band called Motorheadz. On "What You See Is What You Get," probably the fastest track on the album, Lloyd "Lemmy" takes the lead vocals all by himself, and he sounds really close to Mr. Kilmister. "Lloyd did a fantastic job," beams Van Camp. "And the lyrics are very real... We are not impostors or fake metalheads, what you see is what you get, honest and true, for our music and our lifestyle, without compromise." TRACKLIST: 1. Loaded Gun 2. Welcome To The Real World 3.
