Runs In The Family : The Warner Bros Rykodisc Albums Coffret
Description
The very first box set dedicated to the incomparable folk-rock trio The Roches! It brings together remastered versions of the group's iconic albums, released by Warner Bros. and Rykodisc, along with two rare bonus tracks. It includes albums produced by Robert Fripp (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel) and Roy Halee (Simon & Garfunkel, Laura Nyro). The world discovered the voices of Maggie and Terre Roche on Paul Simon's album *There Goes Rhymin' Simon*. Joined by their younger sister Suzzy, The Roches quickly built a remarkable career. Between 1979 and 2007, Maggie, Terre, and Suzzy pushed the boundaries of what is called "folk music." Their songs were personal, funny, heartbreaking, filled with vulnerability and wit, alternately sad and joyful, but always of absolute originality; the three sisters poured their hearts and souls into stunning harmonies. This 3-CD box set gathers their albums: *The Roches* (1979), produced by Robert Fripp; *Nurds* (1980), produced by Roy Halee; *Keep On Doing* (1982), also produced by Fripp; *Another World* (1985), with production by Richard Gottehrer, Ed Kalehoff, and others; as well as *Can We Go Home Now* (1995), created by the group and Stewart Lerman. The albums of The Roches remain timeless, moving, and surprising. Key tracks include "Hammond Song," "Mr. Sellack," "The Married Men," "This Feminine Position," "Runs in the Family," their breathtaking arrangement of the "Hallelujah Chorus," and their delightful cover of "Come Softly To Me" (by the Fleetwoods), heard in the film *Crossing Delancey*. The box set also includes two rare bonus tracks: "Second Family" (a non-album single produced by Robert Fripp, previously unreleased on CD) and a radio performance of "My Winter Coat." The sound has been remastered by Nick Robbins. The deluxe booklet contains rare and previously unseen photos, as well as unique track-by-track commentary written by fans and friends of The Roches (including Linda Ronstadt, Christopher Guest, Robert Fripp, and Linda Thompson) as well as by Terre Roche herself.
