Description

Quartz is a modern jazz trio composed of Jean Sloube (piano, trumpet), Simon Desbiolles (double bass), and Guillaume Jaboulay (drums), formed in 2020 at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood. Together, they have carved out a unique musical path, exploring the boundaries between classical music and jazz. Coming from diverse backgrounds, this trio nonetheless shares many common influences such as Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Avishai Cohen, and even Johann Sebastian Bach. The result is a jazz that experiments and provokes thought, both through its variety and its meticulous composition. This second album features collaborations with their esteemed professors Franck Agulhon (drums), Marc Berthoumieux (accordion), and Stéphane Guillaume (saxophone).
