Mental Funeral is the second studio album by Autopsy, originally released in 1991, and is rightly considered one of the greatest death metal albums of all time, with its unrestrained and uncompromising collection of odes to brutality and depravity, wrapped in an immediately recognizable raw and organic production. The album was recorded at Different Fur Studios in late 1990, with sound engineering handled by Ron Rigler. The iconic artwork is by Kev Walker, already the creator of the then-controversial cover of the band’s first album, Severed Survival. This special 35th anniversary double-disc edition features remastered audio by Greg Wilkinson (Earhammer Studios), as well as a second disc of commentary where Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler and Danny Coralles look back on the writing, recording and inspirations behind the album.
