With a career spanning just over 55 years, Lorrae Desmond has done it all: pop and jazz singer, recording artist, radio and television host, actress, cabaret and theater performer, as well as playwright. In 1962, she became the first woman to win a Gold Logie at the Logie Awards, and in 1984, she won a Silver Logie for her role in the hit Australian television series "A Country Practice." This collection from Jasmine features 30 tracks carefully selected by Lorrae between 1954 and 1962. Although none of them achieved major chart success, Lorrae delivers some truly beautiful performances. In 1960, Lorrae focused on her role as a television personality and began hosting "The Lorrae Desmond Show," which aired from 1960 to April 1964, and the rest is history. Lorrae certainly achieved her goal of being an artist; in fact, calling her a "supreme artist" might be more fitting.
