Life Is An Epic Journey

Description

After Fractal (Sintoma Records, 2024), which was a great success and was programmed in many international venues, clubs and festivals — among them Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, Espacio Turina in Seville, Clarence Jazz Club in Malaga, Angrajazz in the Azores, Guarda in Jazz, Viana jazz and Jazz à la Cité in Paris — the trio of French pianist Samuel Lercher, based in Lisbon, presents its new album, Life Is an Epic Journey. Alongside double bassist André Rosinha and drummer Bruno Pedroso, who form one of the best rhythm sections in Portugal, Samuel Lercher continues his exploration of the boundaries between jazz, classical music and Portuguese traditional music. But beyond the repertoire, it is above all the trio’s cohesion that stands out when listening to Life Is an Epic Journey. As critic Nuno Catarino (Jazz.pt) noted on the occasion of the Angrajazz festival: “From the three musicians, one could hear every sound, every note, played with gravity and intention; and in the trio’s union, one could hear a rich music, full of dynamism and expansiveness.”
