Kompress

Description

After two electrifying studio albums and a live recording, the “supergroup — three musicians among the most exciting and active the European avant-garde has to offer” (Jazzthetik) presents another thrilling album, Kompress. Praised by critics as a genre blend and described as an avant-garde force in the jazz piano trio format, the group opens up a wide range of associative spaces and impressively demonstrates how an active band, through deep trust and the resulting fearlessness, can continue to evolve and explore new musical paths. Ulrich Stock writes in the liner notes: “What I find most fascinating about this album is the present. This music is completely now: alert, full of nervous energy, of multiple perspectives. But in every pore lives the past. It is there, part of it, finely dispersed, dissolved, transcended” and adds: “Up to now, I would still have interpreted the album title Kompress as condensed, which fits perfectly: the world on record. But now I read it as a compress, something cushioning, helping to ease the pain caused by current attacks.”
