Glosas (1533)

Description

If we do not situate the study of music within the broader context of art history — by associating it with the figurative arts or the fine arts such as rhetoric, poetry, architecture, theater, and cinema —, our perception of musical language remains limited and our understanding of what we perform or listen to remains incomplete. This is especially true for distant historical periods, such as the Renaissance and the early Baroque, where the close kinship between these “sister” arts played a decisive role that we, as musicians, cannot afford to neglect.
