François De Roubaix, 50 ans après

Description

Le Sacre du Tympan has been my orchestra and my instrument of expression for 25 years. With this ensemble of variable size, which has released around ten albums and given many concerts in France and abroad, I express myself as a composer but also as an arranger. In 2008, we created a program at the Jazz à la Villette festival, with five musicians, focusing on electronic music and synthesizers in De Roubaix’s music, a pioneer of the home studio and synthesizers. In 2015, we recorded this program. For the composer’s 50th anniversary, which will take place in 2025, I would like to expand the program around the orchestral music that is also very present in his work, which will make it possible to emphasize the timeless quality of his music, while confronting it with works by a few other composers, to demonstrate the influence he may have had, including on legends such as Morricone, Michel Legrand, or John Barry. Revisiting François de Roubaix’s compositions will make it possible to highlight the richness of the themes, harmonies, and timbres that emerge from his works, which have spanned the decades by showcasing their intergenerational appeal to all audiences.
