Maria Uzor (from Sink Ya Teeth) signs a bold debut solo album that fuses techno, electro pop, and trip-hop to offer an electronic escape from algorithms. Born in Norwich (UK) to a Barbadian mother and a Nigerian father, Maria grew up to the sounds of reggae and African music at home, while punk, indie, and hip hop resonated outside. As a young Black woman in a white environment — curious, observant, and eager to carve out a path in a world where she did not see herself reflected — she twists and transforms reality through her music to shape a universe where she, as well as anyone who wishes to join her, can feel at home. Written and recorded entirely in her Norwich apartment, Maria Uzor's music emerges like a pirate broadcast from a distant corner of the galaxy.
