After the first 3 box sets released in October, EMI Classics continues its tribute with 3 new essential box sets on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the passing of the giant of conducting Otto Klemperer, an exclusive EMI Classics artist for many years. A Brahms box set, featuring the benchmark German Requiem, unmatched since (with Schwarzkopf and Fischer-Dieskau), as well as the 4 monumental Symphonies, and also the Alto Rhapsody, with Christa Ludwig, a reference version alongside that of Kathleen Ferrier. The second box set devoted to concertos makes it possible to rediscover not only legendary recordings (Beethoven with Menuhin, Brahms with Oïstrakh, the 5 piano concertos with the very young Barenboïm), but also 2 rarer recordings to rediscover, the concertos by Liszt and Schumann with the great Annie Fischer. Finally, the Mozart box set brings together recordings of Symphonies, overtures and various orchestral pieces. Admittedly, Otto Klemperer conceives Mozart in the opposite way to what the baroque revolution would later bring in terms of lighter forces and a more nervous approach, but what grandeur, what musical accuracy!
