This album tells the rare musical encounter between Swedish violinist and singer Ida Meidell and Northumbrian accordionist Frank Lee — a bearer of unique tradition with an extraordinary repertoire of English melodies and songs, many of which are rarely heard today, delivered through a very distinctive and deeply personal playing style. The two met when Ida, then a young Swedish exchange student in Newcastle, approached Frank during a jam session in a pub and asked him if he would teach her his music. From this unlikely meeting, a deep friendship and a very personal musical collaboration emerged, crossing generations, backgrounds, and national borders. This recording seeks to preserve and honor Frank Lee's remarkable musical legacy while capturing the intimate musical language that the two musicians have developed together over years of shared playing.
