By Inheritance is the third studio album by the Danish thrash metal band Artillery, released in 1990. By Inheritance often sounds like their heyday, both for presenting some of the most distinctive and imaginative songs of their career and for incorporating a variety of textures at a time when many of their contemporaries were wallowing in stagnation. Influenced by the heavy metal tastemakers Metallica and Iron Maiden (particularly their Egypt-themed album Powerslave) during the recording of By Inheritance, Artillery injected Eastern-flavored melodies into typically technical and muscular thrash offerings like "Khomaniac" and the title track. Notable tracks include "Beneath the Clay (R.I.P.)" and "Don't Believe" (released as a single) and their cover of "Razamanaz" by Nazareth. By Inheritance is now considered by many thrash metal fans to be a classic of the genre.
