In 1994, the Archive collective from South London was formed by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths, along with singer Roya Arab and young rapper Rosko John. Unfortunately, a few months later, they parted ways, but Darius and Danny regrouped and continued to release more Archive albums. Their first album from 1996, Londinium, features a strong blend of trip-hop, electronica, string arrangements, and the female vocals of Roya Arab. Rosko John's hard-hitting words are very similar to Tricky, Future Sound Of London, and Massive Attack. The original 1996 release was only available in a limited edition and gradually earned a reputation as a rare and expensive record to obtain. Fun fact: the song "Londinium" was featured on the Playstation 1 demo disc, and the music video was directed by Matt Cook. This 25th anniversary edition of Londinium by Archive includes the singles "So Few Words," "Londinium," and the appearance of Karl Hyde from Underworld on bass for "Headspace," the "hidden track," among others. It is packaged in a gatefold sleeve and includes a 4-page booklet with lyrics and song credits.
