Caméléon Waltz, the title of this new album by Antoine Boyer, gives us the key to his approach; we know that one of the chameleon's characteristics is its ability to change color according to its emotions. Here, it is the guitar that Antoine will change throughout the twelve short and dense pieces of this absolute solo album (a risky exercise without re-recording): nylon string guitar on four tracks, steel string guitar or jazz electric guitar on each of the other four, three types of guitars that also echo the three beats of the waltz. Antoine alternates six eclectic reinterpretations that reflect his musical openness (ranging from the Beatles to Scarlatti, including Paul Simon and Pat Martino) to which he adds his own touch through completely original arrangements, and six very composed personal pieces, full of fresh inspiration. Six in major and six in minor, half in binary and half in ternary. However, there is nothing esoteric in this almost perfect balance, but rather a well-thought-out approach aimed at exploring the sound possibilities of each of the guitars used.
