Van Ghost is the sinister collision between fine arts and the grimiest underground hip-hop. Released in 2018, the album brings together Washington D.C. MC ANKHLEJOHN and producer Big Ghost Ltd. for an 11-track journey entirely inspired by the paintings and troubled world of Vincent van Gogh. Each track takes its name from a work by Van Gogh, from The Night Café and The Yellow House to Starry Night, The Red Vineyard, and The Potato Eaters. But rather than simply paying tribute to the painter, ANKHLEJOHN and Big Ghost translate this imagery into something darker, rawer, and undeniably personal. Big Ghost's menacing, cinematic production sets a dark and atmospheric backdrop for ANKHLEJOHN's abrasive and unpredictable flow, driven by incisive lyrics rooted in the streets.
