Angus And Julia Stone

Description

Following the success of Down The Way, a platinum record in France (150,000 copies), Angus & Julia Stone return with a new album produced by the legendary Rick Rubin! After A Book Like This, recorded in 2008 in London by Fran Healy, the singer of Travis, then Down the Way, propelled by the velvet anthem "Big Jet Plane" in 2010, Angus & Julia Stone reached the very top. Topping the charts and winning multiple awards, they toured in every country. In France, they dominated the radio charts, earned a platinum record with more than 150,000 albums sold, and notably filled the Paris Trianon three nights in a row. Angus and Julia decided to try the solo adventure because, despite appearances, the brother and sister have always written and composed separately. Success was once again there, and they had absolutely no intention of getting back together. It took the help of a legendary producer to rekindle that desire in them. From Adele to Johnny Cash, via Jay-Z, AC/DC, Gossip and the Beastie Boys, Rick Rubin has a gift for spotting and working alongside talented artists. It was after coming across their music at a party at one of his friends’ houses that he fell under their spell. The co-founder of Def Jam, who already has seven Grammy Awards as a producer, had an idea in mind and insisted on meeting them. Convinced that it was better to keep going solo, they found themselves by chance booked at the same festival. They played together again for the first time in two years and the magic happened once more. It was as they came off stage that they decided to really get started with Rick, with the sole requirement that everything remain natural and sincere. Velvet textures, star-dust daydreams and golden melodies. It is no exaggeration to say that this album is the most accomplished offering they have delivered to date. Mixed by Billy Bush (Garbage, Jake Bugg), the album is pure Angus & Julia Stone, but there is a new quality here, a richness that does not go unnoticed. It is an album full of feeling, but also of a new sense of freedom and confidence perceptible from start to finish. Whether one speaks of maturity or of the duo’s reinvention, this new album proves above all to be captivating, visceral and exciting.
