Described as "the world's most glamorous and gifted opera star" (New York Sun), Ms Gheorghiu's magnificent voice and dazzling stage presence have propelled her to international opera superstardom. Her new album, released to coincide with the anniversary of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini, brings together a collection of famous arias and songs covering many years of his career. The album includes a world premiere recording of the recently rediscovered aria "Melanconia", which most likely dates from 1883 rather than 1881 as previously thought. Other notable works on the recording are "Salve Regina" from Le villi, "Storiella d'amore" as well as the title "A te", composed by Puccini when he was only 16 years old.
