The third solo album by Ride guitarist and songwriter Andy Bell, Pinball Wanderer, is a mesmerizing collection of intergalactic alchemy, blending psychedelic melodies, grooves in the vein of Can and The Stone Roses, as well as experimental textures worthy of Arthur Russell. The album features prestigious collaborations, including Dot Allison and the Neu! legend Michael Rother, on a cover of The Passions’ timeless post-punk classic, "I'm In Love With A German Film Star". The organic rhythms that structure the album were laid down with the help of Gem Archer, Andy’s former bandmate in Oasis. The rest of the album took shape during a marathon session that lasted all night last summer, before being finalized at dawn. It is Andy Bell’s most accomplished work to date: a quintessentially nocturnal record, where one can drift between the notes and let oneself be carried by the moment.
