Passion selon St. Jean (Première version 1724)

Description

Johann Sebastian Bach performed his St. John Passion for the first time on Good Friday in 1724. Thomaskantor Andreas Reize is releasing today the world's first recording of this original version. In accordance with historical practice, the performers are positioned around the Bach organ in St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. The grand organ is used as a continuo instrument and simultaneously allows the music to be performed in a historical tuning. The Thomanerchor is accompanied by the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and a high-caliber ensemble of soloists. The solo parts for soprano and alto, as well as all minor solo roles, are performed by young soloists from the Thomanerchor.
