Born in Oise, the young André Verchuren began playing the accordion at the age of 4 and gave his first dance at 6. At 12, he received the World Accordion Championship cup from the hands of King Leopold of Belgium. In 1940, he decided to join the Resistance. Denounced in 1944, he was arrested and tortured by the Gestapo, then deported to the Dachau concentration camp. Back in France after the Liberation, the greatest French accordionist conquered northern France and popularity on Radio Luxembourg where he hosted and created great hits such as: Les fiancés d'Auvergne, Le petite chapeau tyrolien, Ah, si j'étais resté célibataire, Ce soir on va faire la Java, Le chouchou de mon cour and many other popular songs. Officer of the Legion of Honour, host and producer for 25 years of shows on Radio Luxembourg and Europe 1, he tirelessly continued his fight as an ambassador of entertainment and joie de vivre, treading the biggest stages in France right up to the last moments of his incredible life. Passed away on July 10, 2013, the genius of the accordion leaves a huge void in the hearts of his thousands of fans, who never stop paying tribute to him. That is why we are releasing this superb triple Digipack box set bringing together 2 CDs of his greatest hits, with the collector’s and hard-to-find track Tour de France exclusively included, and a magnificent DVD featuring 1h30 of footage.
