Andra Day embodies soul, both through her 1950s rockabilly-inspired look and her powerful, emotion-filled voice, often compared to those of Adele, Billie Holliday, or Amy Winehouse. Her talent has made her the protégé of Stevie Wonder, who immediately fell under her spell; just like Michelle Obama, Raphael Saadiq, who co-produces this first album, QuestLove (The Roots) with whom she collaborates, Spike Lee, director of her first music video, and Lenny Kravitz and Leon Bridges for whom she opens. Rich in jazz, blues, doo-wop, and gospel influences, Cheers To The Fall earned her two nominations at the last Grammy Awards: "Best R&B Album" and "Best R&B Performance" for the stunning single Rise-Up.
