Fado Amalia

Description

An emblematic figure of Portuguese culture, Amália Rodrigues popularized fado, a melancholic song generally accompanied by plucked string instruments. Her distinctive voice earned her worldwide acclaim. Released in 2001, two years after her death and on the occasion of her induction into the Portuguese National Pantheon (the first woman among illustrious Portuguese figures to enter), Fado Amália brings together in two discs a sublime collection of classics from the greatest diva of fado. Excerpt from the "La Discothèque idéale Fnac" guide 2016.
