The thirteen chosen tracks cover fifty-nine years of history with six songs from musicals, four jazz compositions, two film soundtrack songs, and one pop song from 1961. One cannot mention American drummer Alvin Queen without speaking of Elvin Jones, his lifelong mentor and main influence. However, his palette also includes a more contemporary and nuanced sensibility that is undeniably all his own. He is accompanied by two musicians skilled in the traditional piano jazz trio: Carlton Holmes on piano and Danton Boller on double bass.
