Mythology symphony Thunderwalker Shadow

Description

The first orchestral music album by rising American composer Stacy Garrop features the world premiere recording of her Mythology Symphony, a five-movement work inspired by famous female figures from Greek mythology. Characterized by the composer’s gift for lyricism, the symphony is beautifully performed by the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) Symphony Orchestra of Roosevelt University under the direction of Alonda de la Parra. Mythology Symphony is a commission from the Detroit and Albany Symphony Orchestras and Chicago’s Roosevelt University, where Stacy Garrop teaches composition. Her music “generates enthusiasm from musicians and audiences” (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review). She has “a keen ear for instrumental color and narrative form: she is able to tell a story” (Detroit Free Press).
