She started learning piano at the age of 2, violin at 4, composed her first Sonata for piano at 6, her first concerto at 9, and her first opera at 12. Alma Deutscher, now only 14 years old, is an extraordinary musician already recognized by the greatest conductors like Sir Simon Rattle and Zubin Mehta, who see in her "the most exceptional talent of our time." Used to television cameras (she has been a guest on Ellen DeGeneres' show, and CBS and the BBC have each produced a documentary about her) and press articles (The New York Times, The Telegraph...), Alma is different from other prodigies because she possesses a true mastery and maturity of classical composition, an extremely rare gift for someone her age. Her second album (and first with Sony Classical) is titled "My Book of Mélodies," which is also the name of the notebook containing the compositions she has written throughout her young years. The album features 11 melodies for piano in the romantic tradition, written between the ages of 4 and 14. These pieces are a deep dive into her musical imagination, accessible while showcasing the extent of her talent. Often compared to Mozart for her talent and precocity, Alma Deutscher primarily composes very personal pieces, as she puts it, "rewriting Mozart would be boring!" The young musician will perform at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York in December 2019.
