MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY - the first single by ALIAS was released in the UK on November 12, 1990. It took the American Billboard singles chart by storm. Written by singer FREDDY CURCI and guitarist STEVE DeMARCHI (both former members of the Canadian band Sheriff), the track was also produced with the help of Rick Neigher (Vixen, Tim Karr). Available in all formats, it also featured SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY, which, like MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY, is taken from the band's debut self-titled album set to be released on November 26. The 12" EP included the track WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? and the CD single also featured CALL ME - these two tracks do not appear on the album. We find them here in this reissue. CURCI and DeMARCHI had already had their share of fame as former members of 'Sheriff', which enjoyed some success in the early 80s. After the dissolution of 'Sheriff', the two men went their separate ways for a while before reuniting and purchasing a 16-track studio, which they set up in DeMARCHI's basement. While they were recording a demo, they were suddenly catapulted to fame thanks to the success of an old 'Sheriff' song, "When I'm With You," which reached number one on the Billboard chart and sold over 500,000 copies. "We couldn't believe it," says DeMARCHI. "We were there with a number one song, but no tour, no video, and not even a band!" Although the idea of ALIAS had already been discussed, the project gained momentum with the success of 'When I'm With You'. CURCI and DeMARCHI had planned to record an album together after 'Sheriff' disbanded, but both realized they much preferred being in a 'band' situation. During a recording session in Los Angeles, they crossed paths with drummer MICHAEL DEROSIER, who had been part of the original lineup of "HEART" and turned out to be interested in the idea of being in a band again. DEROSIER then brought in STEVE FOSSEN on bass and guitarist ROGER FISHER, also founding members of "HEART". United in this way, the members of ALIAS eagerly await the release of their first single and album. The band recently completed a successful tour in Canada and is currently opening for 'REO Speedwagon' on their American tour. Additionally, the band is preparing for an international tour that is expected to include dates in the UK. DeMARCHI states: "We were dying to play live again. The feeling of being on the road, no matter the size of the stage, is the best in the world. There's nothing like being in front of a drummer and feeling that bass drum in your stomach. It's awesome!"
