Concertos pour instruments à vent

Description

The award-winning Scottish Chamber Orchestra gives its world-acclaimed principal players the chance to shine in Weber’s virtuosic and thrilling Concertos. Composed at a crucial time in the development of the instrument, the Clarinet Concerto is one of the cornerstones of the clarinet repertoire, impressively performed by Maximiliano Martín. For this recording Peter Whelan reconstructed a 1822 version rather than using the usual 1865 version. In a unique blend Alec Frank-Gemmill performs his own version of the cadenza from the virtuoso Concertino for horn, known for its chromaticism and the demanding multiphonic chords.
