Description

REMINISCENCE "a piano for two voices" is both an exceptional meeting and a challenge between Alain Jean-Marie, Gino Sitson, and René Geoffroy. These three exceptional artists, drawing on their cultural and social differences, wanted to retrace the journey of their African ancestors deported to unknown lands and imagine their frustrations, fears, deprivations, and humiliations in the current context. They will draw from a rich mixed Afro culture that they have left us as a legacy, including blues, jazz, gwoka, quadrille, maloya, bossa nova, bel air, and the music of Cuba, Haiti... to name just a few. All are the fruits of a blend of pain, suffering, blood, and pleasure. REMINISCENCE aims to celebrate the inner strengths of creation and adaptation of displaced peoples, who, in moments of unspeakable turmoil, know how to transcend and resist.
