Sound and color

Description

Just listen to the first single, Don't Wanna Fight, to realize it: Alabama Shakes is back and ready to go even further! With 3 nominations at the prestigious Grammy Awards, including one in the Best New Artist category, explosive live shows and rave reviews, after the huge success of their first album Boys & Girls, it’s an understatement to say that the Americans’ second album is eagerly awaited. In the face of this success, Alabama Shakes nevertheless took care not to rush things for Sound & Color. Written largely on the road during their world tour, the album’s twelve tracks were carefully developed by the four members of the band and recorded at Emporium Sound studio in Nashville with the help of Blake Mills, who has notably worked with Lana Del Rey. Sound & Color thus sees the band evolve both in terms of influences — still very much blues-rock at its core, but with much groovier touches of funk, R&B and even garage than on Boys & Girls — and in terms of mastery, to produce a powerful and captivating album. Mastery of their instruments and above all vocally for singer Brittany Howard, who delivers simply stunning performances.
