AKON is no stranger in France where his first album "Trouble" released 2 years ago was certified Platinum (220,000 copies sold). Three singles ranked #1 on airplay accompanied his explosion in France: "Locked Up," "Lonely" (over 600,000 ringtones sold!) and then "Bananza" have certainly charmed French listeners. Of Senegalese origin, AKON arrived in the United States at the age of seven. The head of his family is the legendary percussionist and jazz musician Mor Thiam. AKON's music is a clever blend of hip-hop mixed with soul, sung by an African voice that has retained its grain and gives a world accent to it all.
