La Rana

Far Out Recordings is proud to present La Rana, the 1980 album by Argentine guitarist Agustín Pereyra Lucena. Recorded in Oslo, La Rana features Agustín's stunning covers of compositions by Ivan Lins, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Baden Powell, a friend and musical hero of Agustín. In addition to these compositions and a number of Agustín's personal compositions, including the fifteen-minute masterpiece "Encuentro De Sombras," the album title is an original version of "A Rã" by Joao Donato. (Eng: The Frog / Esp: La Rana) by Joao Donato, taken from his album Quem É Quem from 1973.
The rest of the quartet consists of two Argentine compatriots who were also Agustin's companions in the group Candeias: bassist and multi-instrumentalist Guillermo Reuter and flutist Ruben Izarrualde, with Norwegian drummer Finn Sletten on drums and percussion.
