Garbology (Instrumental Version) - Vinyle Jaune, Vert & Noir

Description

After the success of Garbology, the album by Aesop Rock and Blockhead released in November 2021, Rhymesayers is releasing the instrumental versions for a deeper examination of this record. When Aesop Rock debuted in the late '90s with Music For Earthworms and Appleseed, Blockhead was also part of the process, notably as a producer. Blockhead and Aesop continued to collaborate, creating an impressive list of songs, including two of Aesop's most popular tracks to date: "Daylight" and "None Shall Pass." In recent years, Blockhead has contributed to the production, as well as remixes, of many solo albums and group projects by Aesop, and Aesop Rock has made a handful of appearances on Blockhead's solo projects, but all this time, Aesop and Block had never made a full album together. Until 2021! Initially, there was no plan for an album, nor any specific plan beyond creating a few songs. However, it didn't take long for the songs to multiply and for the album to come to fruition. Garbology captures the soundtrack of the current era, a snapshot of Aesop and Block expressing a way to entertain themselves in a context of diminished social interactions, rooted in a mix of fear, anger, and extreme boredom. As for the album title, Aesop explains that garbology is defined as the study of materials discarded by a society, in order to learn what they reveal about social or cultural habits. There are many parallels between this and the idea of picking up the pieces after a loss or a period of intense upheaval, and seeing what is really there. Additionally, the idea of digging into the often-overlooked music of another era with a keen ear to assimilate that data in a way different from the average listener is exactly what Blockhead does. Pressed on double yellow, green, and black vinyl.
