Description

Àbájade is all about movement, collective joy, and the fervor of trance. Driven by the irresistible energy of its three voices, the band offers a modern experience of celebration and ritual! Our first album, Latopa, showcases the full scope of a mystical groove developed between the streets of Havana and the clubs of Paris. By coloring Yoruba chants dedicated to the orishas with our respective musical worlds, we bring our touches of soul and jazz for an original sound crafted by eight musicians. The album is named 'Latopa' because it is dedicated to the orisha Elegua, who opens paths in the Afro-Cuban Santeria tradition. As the deity of crossroads, we feel he is emblematic of our music due to the diversity of musical paths that converge on this record. The seven tracks blend original compositions and unique arrangements. They were recorded live, on analog tape, and with vintage microphones to capture all the warmth and energy of Àbájade.
