Dubbed by MARTIN SCORCESE the ROLLING STONES of the African continent, the five members of NASS EL GHIWANE began their careers as actors under the direction of filmmaker TAYEB SEDDIKI. Their songs became anthems for Moroccan youth in the 70s, reflecting an aspiration for social emancipation blended in the crucible of ancestral Maghrebi traditions (gnawa, Berber music), the poems of great Sufi mystics, and a modernization of chaâbi.
