Description

20syl experiments with new directions on this second EP released in 2015. The production is more stripped-down and he takes the liberty of sampling his own voice, as on the opening track "Swimming Stone" and the closing track "Dust Clouds," notable for its whistled melody and a few acoustic guitar arpeggios. In between, the machine is back in motion with the rhythmic "You Know," which follows in the footsteps of "C.Y.D.T.T. ?Can You Dance To This ??" from the previous EP, as well as the jerky "Back & Forth" with its 8-bit sounds. The only collaboration on the EP is with rapper Fashawn, a protégé of Nas, on "Copycat," which features Asian sonorities and is undoubtedly the most hip-hop track on the EP. With his tireless talent, he manages to showcase all his musical influences while remaining true to his style.
