At the end of the last century, Thai pop music, even within the luk thung or luk krung branches alone, counted as many distinct currents as the vast field of traditional music. Musicians and singers then traveled all over the country to make their careers in Bangkok. It is remembered that the king himself was a fine connoisseur of jazz, and that this style left an indelible mark on Thai productions of the early 60s. By enriching with many bonus tracks the repertoire of a CD long out of print, this superb compilation covers three decades (the 60s, 70s and 80s), through a selection of surf, rock, funk, disco, film music and musical comedy.
