About

Nazareth began as a local covers band named The Shadettes before adopting their current name inspired by a lyric from The Band's "The Weight." Their 1973 album Razamanaz produced hits such as "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy." Success continued with albums like Hair of the Dog (1975) and Loud 'N' Proud (1973), known for their hard rock sound. Over time, the band expanded personnel and experimented with new styles through the 1980s and 1990s. Despite lineup changes and the death of original drummer Darrell Sweet in 1999, Nazareth continued recording and touring, adapting to the evolving rock scene with releases into the 2020s.
