Built around a heavily compressed, distorted electro sound stitched to disco, funk and rock references, Justice broke through in 2003 with the Simian remix that became We Are Your Friends, then consolidated with the 2007 debut album † on Ed Banger Records — home of D.A.N.C.E., Genesis and Phantom.

The studio catalogue extends to Audio, Video, Disco. (2011), Woman (2016) and Hyperdrama (2024), flanked by the live records A Cross The Universe (2008) and Access All Arenas (2013). Side B: the hidden stories of Justice

Studio secrets, touring anecdotes and B-sides worth the whole album.

01Origins

From a Simian remix to Ed Banger flagship

Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay first surfaced in 2003 with a remix of Simian's Never Be Alone, released on Ed Banger Records. Reissued in 2006 as We Are Your Friends on Ten Records, the track became their calling card and pulled the Paris duo into the European club circuit.

A Cross The Universe, the 2008 US tour on tape

In November 2008 the duo released A Cross The Universe, a live CD plus documentary directed by So Me and Romain Gavras chronicling their American tour. The audio side captures the San Francisco show, with Genesis, Phantom and Stress reworked for the stage.

03Fashion

Planisphère, music for a Dior runway

For Fashion Week 2009, Justice composed Planisphère, a four-part suite swinging from disco to metal, used as soundtrack for the Dior show. The piece later reached collectors as a stand-alone release alongside the band's studio catalogue.

04Awards

The 2006 MTV Europe Music Award incident

At the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, Justice vs. Simian's We Are Your Friends won Best Video. Director Jérémie Rozan was interrupted on stage by Kanye West, frustrated at not winning the category — a clip that did more for the duo's notoriety than any press release.
