Vikingur Olafsson, the virtuosic Icelandic pianist and one of the most acclaimed classical artists of our time, unveils his new project "From Afar". Inspired by his meeting with Gyorgy Kurtag, this work features beautifully interpreted titles and forgotten melodies. Vikingur revisits some of his early musical passions. It includes pages from Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Kaldalóns, Bartók, Kurtag, and Birgisson, as well as the world premiere recording of "The Branch" by Thomas Adès. This album contains two recordings of the same arrangements made on two different pianos, one on a Steinway concert piano and the other on an upright piano. Innovative like never before, Vikingur creates two musical sound universes that appeal to both traditional audiences and those who listen exclusively via streaming. The album "From Afar".
