Contrary to popular belief, the famous Adagio contains only a few notes written by Albinoni, a Venetian composer contemporary with Vivaldi. It is in fact a skillful pastiche created in the 20th century by the musicologist Remo Giazotto. In the footsteps of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, this work nevertheless brought a wide audience to Baroque music. This fine record also presents its greatest hits (Pachelbel’s Canon, Handel’s Sarabande, etc.) in an ideal performance, that is to say light and elegant. Very beautiful melodies within everyone’s reach, from 7 to 77!
