Stephan Eicher has been working this new album over body and soul for three years. The songs on this opus are overflowing postcards, the colors stream down to sketch out another landscape. Stephan Eicher likes it when emotions prefer the small roads to the big highways. He can sing of disappearance, the lurking threat, doubt and storms, but he refuses Manichaeism, cheap darkness. In his work, everything collides, swirls, blends together. With Ode, there is hope in his songs, sometimes laughter, rather wry, love, and above all there is an ultra-sensitive poetry, the words of writer friends, Martin Suter and, always and again, Philippe Djian.
