Signed to DFA in the USA and CITY SLANG in Europe, AHMAD GALLAB is already well known to indie audiences for having been the drummer for CARIBOU, OF MONTREAL, YEASAYER, among others. Of Sudanese origin, he emigrated with his family to the United States when he was still a child. This first solo album is the perfect bridge between Sudanese music and the best of American indie. An album for the 21st century where cultures and influences blend together. AHMAD GALLAB on his own represents a perfect American story, an immigrant who uses his roots to mix them with the modernism of Brooklyn indie electro. Featuring contributions from: YEASAYER, TWIN SHADOW and the afrobeat band NOMO. Runnin, the album’s standout track, is already creating a buzz, and the CARIBOU remix was one of the most blogged-about tracks of recent months. A revelation!
