All the secret soul of Schubert by Quatuor Modigliani Franz Schubert, a young fourteen-year-old chorister, wrote his first string quartets, a genre he would never leave until the last years of his life. Fifteen quartets, of remarkable inventiveness and overwhelming lyricism, have gone down in history, carrying both the legacy of the classical era and the promise of the future. In the meantime, these works have seen the passage of life’s currents — disillusionment, illness, but also the flourishing of a masterful mind. “Communion with a secret soul, the discovery of inexpressible colors, admiration for a masterful discourse whose ideas never cease to evolve and inspire — it is a journey that marks us for life. The recording of the octet two years earlier was only the first stone of a project that was close to our hearts and that we finally see completed through this Schubert immersion.”
